It began with messages. For years, relatives and friends abroad wrote to us from Manchester, Toronto, Dubai and Houston, each asking a version of the same question. Could someone visit Abbu’s grave before Eid? Could we arrange a deg for Ammi’s barsi? Could we send a photo, just so they could see?
Mehreen usually took the message. Rabia usually found a way to make it happen, through a caretaker we trusted at the graveyard or a cook who would start the deg at dawn. Afterwards we sent pictures, and the replies that came back were always some version of the same relief.
Slowly we realised how many families carry this quiet worry, and how few people they can trust with something so personal. So we gave it a name, an honest price list and a proper way of working. KhayaalSe is that same favour, made dependable.
